From: About.com Journalism

A couple of interesting tidbits come out of Daniel Lyons' Newsweek
piece on Arianna Huffington. Most interesting is the fact that for
all Huffington's supposed digital age savvy, her HuffingtonPost
site is having the same problem every other news website is having
- namely, figuring out how to monetize content (in plain English,
how to make money). ... Read Full Post

Newspapers May Not be Cool, But They Still Make Money

Being a defender of newspapers is sort of like being the father of
a teen-aged daughter. "Daaaad," she says, rolling her eyes. "You're
so tooootally unhip." Or words to that effect. Of course, in this
little analogy the teenager represents the media futurists who keep
telling us how uncool we are for actually liking newspapers. They
say if we don't dump print and jump on the digital bandwagon in the

NY Times Will Start Charging for Web Access in 2011

To no one's surprise, The New York Times announced today that it
would charge for access to its website beginning in 2011, using a

to the site for no extra charge. Here's what we don't know: How
much the plan will cost or how many articles users will be able to
read before the fee kicks in. Times execs said the amount of free
access could change over time, based on the economy and reader
demand. Many newspapers ha...

students to master writing, interviewing and editing; these days
they must blog and design websites, shoot digital video and use
Twitter....Read Full Post
New BBC Website Aimed at U.S. Needs Fewer Scones, More Barbecue

I'm as much of an anglophile as the next guy. I mean, any country
that could give us both Shakespeare and Doctor Who can't be all
bad. So I was pumped to hear that the BBC today launched a news
website aimed squarely at the U.S., BBC.com. ... Read Full Post
